🚁 What to expect

What to Expect from Your Perth City and Rottnest Island Helicopter Tour

Your helicopter tour starts at Jandakot Airport in Perth, just a short distance from the CBD, allowing you to start your scenic flight over Western Australia in a convenient way. The adventure really begins when the helicopter takes off into the air and begins its flight over Perth City, where you'll get to see a variety of famous landmarks from the sky, in a way that few others do.

Perth is known for some amazing attractions, both land and sea, allowing you and your group to view them from a whole new angle.

The flight then takes you from the city of Perth towards the Western coastline and then over the Indian Ocean, where you'll get the opportunity to see crystal clear waters and plenty of unique wildlife.

You'll fly over the Indian Ocean and head to the main attraction, Rottnest Island, which is well-known for its lighthouses, wetlands, beaches, and long stretches of coast that are a joy to see from above, especially on a nice day.

Once you've flown a circuit over the island and its beaches, you'll fly back over the Indian Ocean and towards Perth, where you'll land in the same place as you started - right in Perth and close to the CBD, so you can keep the day going strong with more adventures.

✅ What's included

What's Included With Your Perth City & Rottnest Island Scenic Helicopter Tour?

First, your tour comes with its own private helicopter, one that is able to quickly fly from one destination to the next while keeping you safe and comfortable. All Rotor One helicopters feature high-tech setups to ensure a smooth flight through the air at all times, along with insulated cabins and noise-cancelling headphones.

This means that you get to experience a thrilling yet calm and quiet flight while being able to talk to the other passengers in your group, and even get interesting commentary from the pilot along the way - they serve not just as your pilot, but your tour guide too. All helicopters feature plush seating, ample legroom, and large windows for a full view of everything below.

The first leg of this scenic helicopter tour will have you flying over Perth city, where you'll get to see iconic landmarks such as Elizabeth Quay and Swan River - the latter being especially popular thanks to its long and winding nature. Flying over Perth will also allow you to see Kings Park and Botanic Garden, Optus Stadium, the WACA Ground, and the South Perth Foreshore.

As you head west toward the Indian Ocean and start flying over the water, you'll see Cottesloe Beach, Subiaco, Shenton Park, Swanbourne and City Beach. As you continue the adventure, you'll fly over Rottnest Channel, which is a 19-kilometre stretch of dazzling blue water between the mainland and Rottnest Island. If you're lucky, you might get to see some dolphins and whales from above, so it's certainly worth adding to your Perth itinerary.

Once you get to Rottnest Island, that's where the real fun starts. You'll do a circuit around the island, and you'll get to view sights such as the Thomson Bay Settlement, Bathurst Lighthouse, Wetlands, the Cathedral Rocks, Strickland Bay, and even more marine wildlife sightings - true Western Australian beauty at its finest. Once you've toured the island, you'll fly back to Perth in the same elegant and comfortable helicopter.

📍 About the destination

About the Destinations - The City and the Island

As far as photogenic locations are concerned, Perth City and Rottnest Island are two of the very best. Perth is found between the Indian Ocean and the Swan River, along with a skyline that stands out against its golden beaches and green parks.

The city is certainly worth seeing from above, as it's organised geometrically, yet has plenty of green space too.

Then comes Rottnest Island, which features coral reefs, salt lakes, and turquoise bays, all of which make for some truly stunning photographs. It's the isolation of the island, along with all of its bold natural features, that make it worth seeing from above.

🎟️ Important Booking Information

Where are you located?

Your flight will depart from Jandakot Airport which is 20 minutes from Perth CBD by car. Your departure point will be 8 Bell Ct, Jandakot WA 6164. Please refer to your booking confirmation email for your departure location. Both locations have off-street parking available.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes before your booking begins for a relaxed experience.

Why do I need to provide my weight?

We use this to calculate the weight and balance of the helicopter prior to flight. If any guests are over 130kg (or 300lb) or a group of 2 or 3 weighs more than 240kg (or 530lb), please contact us prior to booking as we may need to upgrade you to a larger helicopter for safety reasons. Helicopters seats are specially designed to absorb energy in the unlikely event of a hard landing, so we're required by Australian Aviation Law to enforce strict per seat and collective weight limits so all passengers remain safe.

Can bad weather prevent us from flying?

Yes, adverse weather conditions such as low cloud, fog, heavy rain or high winds may require your flight to be delayed or rescheduled. If this is the case, your pilot will contact you at least 2 hours prior to your booking time to reschedule your flight. If your flight cannot go ahead due to bad weather and you wish to cancel, we'll provide a full refund minus any credit card processing fees we've paid on your behalf.

Google says there's will be bad weather on the day. Should I reschedule?

There's no need to contact us to reschedule based on a weather forecast as they're often inaccurate! We use live weather data on the day of your flight to determine if flights can be conducted safely.

What is the minimum age requirement for children?

Children aged 2 years or older can occupy their own seat. Our pilots will give them special attention to ensure they have an amazing time. All children will have their own window seat and pay the same seat price (we don't offer discounts for children as we make sure they have even more fun than the adults 😁)

Can I use my camera or phone during flight?

Yes, we encourage you to take as many photos and videos on the ground, and in the air, as possible.

What should I wear?

Please bring a pair of sunglasses and you're welcome to wear clothing appropriate to the weather. We do recommend a wind-breaker jacket on cooler or windy days to keep your warm.

Can I bring any luggage?

Light handbags and small backpacks weighing less than 10kg can be carried in the aircraft. Large luggage or any items you do not wish to take on our flight can be safely stored in our guest lounge.

Can I fly if I'm pregnant?

Yes, and we recommend flying prior to your third trimester.

Can I fly if I'm in a wheelchair?

Yes, our hangar is wheelchair-accessible and we warmly welcome passengers with special needs, as long as a carer accompanies them on their flight. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Do you provide a wheelchair for disabled passengers?

We can help arrange wheelchair rental as well as delivery and pickup services from our hangar. Wheelchairs can only be carried in larger aircraft suitable for 4 or more passengers as they include a cargo hold. We would be happy to arrange a suitable wheelchair for your planned date of travel.
