What to Expect - The Best City, Beaches, and Coastal Helicopter Tour
The trip starts at Archerfield airport, where your private sightseeing chopper awaits you, complete with spacious seating, panoramic windows, and noise-cancelling headsets so you can hear your pilot’s commentary throughout the flight. The central location of the airport also allows for easy access to adventure tours like this.
You’ll first fly over Mt Gravatt, a great lookout with 360-degree views of Brisbane’s south side. It’s a good spot to get your bearings with the city skyline in the distance. You’ll pass over the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, see the sandstone buildings, and the riverside walkways.
As the flight follows the curve of the Brisbane River, you’ll start to see the city’s icons. The Gabba stadium comes into view, then South Bank with its Ferris wheel, parks, and rooftop pools.
Then the CBD and the skyscrapers feel like they’re right in front of you. Your pilot will request clearance to circle the Story Bridge, and you’ll get a great view of the iron structure that links Kangaroo Point with Fortitude Valley. From here, you can also see the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, carved out of volcanic rock and popular with climbers and sunset watchers.
Next, you’ll fly over Suncorp Stadium and then head towards Mt Coot-tha. The summit lookout is visible from the air, and behind it, you’ll see the Brisbane Forest Park stretching into the hinterland. From here, the scenery changes. The aircraft banks eastward and begins its coastal leg.
Soon, you'll be seeing the waters of Wellington Point, a piece of land that stretches out into Moreton Bay, which is an interesting site, as people often walk to King Island on the exposed sandbar at low tide. From your helicopter, the sparkling waters below look amazing.
The chopper then heads northward along the coast, flying past Wynnum, Manly Harbour, and Lota, all of which are small suburbs along the bay known for their beautiful and long coastal promenades. You'll get to see Manly Marina, which features hundreds of docked Yachts - something worth seeing from the air. You might even see some whale-watching boats below!
Next, you’ll fly over Redcliffe, one of Brisbane’s original seaside getaways. From the helicopter, you can see Suttons Beach, the Redcliffe Jetty, and Settlement Cove Lagoon. On a clear day, you might even see Moreton Island and Stradbroke Island on the horizon with their white beaches, calm waters, and green interiors, along with some diverse marine life.
From here, the helicopter begins the return journey inland. You’ll pass over Mt Coot-tha again, fly over St Lucia, and get a new view of West End and South Brisbane. This loop ensures every passenger gets a view of both the city and the coast, and makes the most of the full 40-minute flight.
Optional Add-On - Extend the Flight Toward the Gold Coast
For those who want to make the experience even more special, there’s an optional Gold Coast extension. This takes the flight further south over the Logan River and into the scenic hinterland before breaking out over the coast at Surfers Paradise.
The contrast is notable, from Brisbane’s riverfront to the Gold Coast’s beach, surf, and skyscrapers. You’ll fly over Broadbeach, Burleigh Head, and on a clear day, you might even see the edge of the Tweed Coast before turning back. If you're visiting Brisbane and Australia in general, then this add-on is certainly worth it.

What an amazing experience!! 🚁💯‼️ 🤯 Had the privilege of flying over Sydney 🇦🇺 👀🤙🏽 What a view from up so high. Thanks Rotor One and team for making the experience so exciting and being so accommodating on this trip! Will definitely be looking you up again when I’m in Melbourne for another amazing flight over a different city 🏙!! 😉🤯🚁💯‼️

Amazing experience. I flew my wife and daughter family around Sydney Harbour on a helicopter ride. I felt safe and comfortable in the air conditioned chopper. There was a short safety briefing at the start, and the highlight was definitely seeing Sydney from above.

It was a really great experience for both of us. Big thanks to Rotor One and Ed for making it one of the best memories of our lifetime.
