🏅 5 Star Helicopter Rides in Sydney

The Ultimate Hunter Valley Brewery Tour and Pub Crawl

Yes, the Hunter Valley is home to plenty of wineries and distilleries, but what many people don't know is that it’s also home to some of the country’s best craft breweries. Your Hunter Valley pub crawl has been designed around three of the most highly regarded beer venues in the region.

Your journey starts with a breathtaking 45-minute private helicopter ride out of Sydney airport. You’ll venture north along the Central Coast over the pristine Northern Beaches of New South Wales. After your scenic flight, you'll be making three epic, private landings at the IronBark Hill Brewery, Pine Brewing Co, and Hope Estate.

If a coastal helicopter ride weren’t already enough, this Hunter Valley pub crawl is all about a full day trip that has you experiencing a variety of Hunter Valley breweries, so you can drink some of the crispest, most unique, and famous beers that the Polkolbin locals themselves enjoy.

If you’re looking to sample some great beer with an exceptional range of flavours, then this Hunter Valley brewery tour via helicopter is the only private tour you need to consider when you’re traveling with a large group, taking your mates out for the day, or create a memorable afternoon for your partner.

🍺 Pale Ales at IronBark Hill

IronBark Hill Brewhouse, nestled in the heart of Hunter Valley, is the first stop on your helicopter pub crawl. Known for its craft beers, including pale ales, IPAs, and stouts brewed on-site, this venue offers a fantastic tasting experience.

As part of your tour, you’ll enjoy a flight over the Central Coast before landing at IronBark Hill to sample beer paddles featuring four exclusive brews.

IronBark Hill in Australia has a great selection of craft beers that are sure to impress. Their American Pale Ale is a popular choice, known for its perfect balance of hop bitterness and refreshing citrus notes, making it a go-to for anyone who enjoys a crisp, easy-drinking beer.

If you're after something with a bit more punch, the IronBark Hill IPA delivers bold tropical fruit aromas and a hoppy finish that IPA fans will love.

For those who like something richer, the Black Forest Stout is a real treat, featuring delicious chocolate and cherry flavors that bring to mind a Black Forest cake. Whether you’re into light and refreshing or deep and indulgent, IronBark Hill has something for everyone.

The rustic yet modern venue also includes a cellar door showcasing Shiraz, Semillon, and other local wines. With wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers, and live music enhancing the atmosphere, IronBark Hill has a perfect blend of good vibes, delicious food, and exceptional beer.

🍔 Craft Beer Tasting and Lunch at Pine Brewing

Pine Brewing Co. is the second stop on the pub crawl and offers a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere with an impressive lineup of craft beers. Known for its rotating selection of lagers, pale ales, and seasonal brews, Pine Brewing focuses on fresh, small-batch production that celebrates local flavours.

4 Pines is known for its range of craft beers. Their Pacific Ale is a refreshing standout, with a light, tropical flavour and subtle passionfruit notes, absolutely perfect for a laid-back summer day. If you're after something more classic, the 4 Pines Pale Ale delivers a full-flavoured experience with its rich malt base and a hint of fruity hops, making it a favourite for those who love a balanced beer.

For something a bit different, the Japanese Style Lager is crisp and clean with a delicate finish, a refreshing and smooth option. And if you’re in the mood for something bold, the Nitro Stout is creamy, with hints of chocolate and coffee flavours, and has a nitrogen-infused texture that's both smooth and satisfying.

Your helicopter tour will land at Pine Brewing, where you’ll enjoy classic beer tastings and a delicious a la carte lunch featuring pub classics like sliders, loaded fries, and much more. For those who enjoy seafood, calamari is always a fan-favourite.

The Wagyu Burger makes for an upscale burger choice for burger lovers who want to try something a little fancier than the average Big Mac, and for those with a serious craving for meat, the freshly grilled Scotch Fillet or Sirloin is the way to go. With about a dozen exclusive wood-fired pizzas to choose from, along with much more, it's a dining experience worth having at least once.

This spot is perfect for those who enjoy a laid-back vibe paired with great beer and food, making it a memorable stop on the tour.

🥃 Beer and Spirits at Hope Estate

Hope Estate, the final destination on the helicopter pub crawl, is a standout venue in Hunter Valley known for its award-winning craft beers, wines, and spirits. With a wide range of beer paddles available, from IPAs to stouts, Hope Estate often experiments with new styles, making each visit unique.

This tour stop offers beer and spirits tastings, allowing guests to explore a broad spectrum of flavours.

At Hope Estate, the spirit-tasting paddles are a fun and flavorful way to explore a variety of locally crafted spirits. There are five paddles to choose from, each featuring four 10ml samples (or special servings for certain spirits) paired with garnishes, mixers, and a mini ice bucket.

For gin lovers, the Festival Favourites Gin Paddle showcases their most popular gin varieties, while the Fruity Gin Paddle highlights vibrant, fruit-infused gins. The Vodka & Ouzo Paddle is perfect for those looking to taste the smoothness of Hope Estate's vodka alongside the bold, herbal notes of ouzo.

If you’re into something richer, the Pokolbin Single Barrel Paddle offers a selection of barrel-aged spirits, including their ultra-premium cut gin. For something a little sweeter, the Liqueur & Schnapps Paddle brings a delightful mix of dessert-worthy sips. Each paddle offers a unique tasting journey, perfect for any spirit enthusiast.

Beyond the drinks, the estate boasts a modern cellar door and a restaurant serving dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, perfectly paired with their beverages. This stop provides a unique and interesting twist to the previous tastings on your helicopter pub crawl, allowing you to tick a "hard liquor tasting" off your bucket list.

📍 About the destination

About Hunter Valley Pubs

The cool thing about Hunter Valley pubs is that they are extremely versatile, as there are plenty of different pubs to visit. Hunter Valley tours offer unique experiences through brewery and wine tours in the Hunter Valley region, allowing visitors to explore award-winning wineries and craft breweries.

IronBark Hill Brewery

For instance, if we are talking about the IronBark Hill Brewery, this isn't just a brewery, because it's also home to the Peter Drayton Wines Cellar Door and Wildstreak Distillery.

It’s also home to the Wildstreak Pizzeria and Kitchen, showcasing just how versatile of a venue it is. Of course, it is all about beer, which you can clearly see when you get to experience the custom-built German brewing system firsthand. In fact, the first beers at IronBark were brewed in this special system back in 2016.

4 Pines Brewing Co

We then have the 4 Pines Brewing Co, which interestingly enough got its name because there were four pine trees removed from Manly’s foreshore promenade and replaced with machine guns, and this brewery is named in honour of those trees.

It might just be a small boutique micro-brewery, but it's been open since 2006 and has been making award-winning beers ever since. What really stands out about this brewery is that it and its friendly staff are dedicated to keeping our planet green and clean, something that we can all appreciate.

Hope Estate

What really stands out about Hope Estate is that it is a combination distillery, brewery, and winery. If you like alcohol, it’s certainly a destination worth visiting. Between the house-made gin, vodka, and super potent moonshine, you’re sure to get a buzz going here. Take a look at the modern cellar door, where all of the beer and spirits are on offer. If there's one stop that all brewery tours should focus on, it should be this one.

Historic Aussie Pubs

The Hunter Valley is home to some of Australia’s most historic and iconic pubs, each with its own unique character and charm. From the Wollombi Tavern, which dates back to 1836, to the Settlers Arms Inn, which has been serving fine ales and wines since 1836.
