🚁 What to expect

What to Expect from Your Spicers Peak Lodge Helicopter Tour

Your helicopter tour to Spicers Peak Lodge begins with an exciting ride from Archerfield Airport, with views of the city before heading out over the lush expanse of Queensland’s high country. As you travel southwest for about 30 minutes, you’ll see sprawling greenery, valleys, and the rugged landscape stretching towards the horizon.

Once you arrive at Spicers Peak Lodge, perched high on a mountaintop, you’ll be greeted by some of the best food in the country. The chef’s tasting menu is the true highlight of the visit, combining fresh regional ingredients with contemporary Australian flair.

The first course presents the Scenic Rim Carrot, a sesame tartlet topped with house-made labneh, a touch of carrot gel, and pickled vegetables. This earthy, refreshing starter is perfectly complemented by the crisp notes of a 2022 Nomad’s Garden Fiano from King Valley or the more complex 2022 Pierro LTC from Margaret River.

Next, taste in the Market Fish, cooked with a rich kaffir lime beurre blanc, dotted with salmon roe and finished with a drizzle of nasturtium oil. The delicately balanced flavours are paired with either a 2021 First Creek Chardonnay from Hunter Valley, offering bright acidity, or the creamy 2021 Singlefile Chardonnay from Great Southern for a more luxurious feel.

For the main course, enjoy the Local Lamb Loin, artfully plated with baby beets, a herb crust made from the lodge’s own chef’s garden, and dusted with celery. The lamb’s tenderness pairs beautifully with either a 2020 Fox Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, or a lighter and fruit-forward 2020 Seville Estate Pinot Noir from Yarra Valley.

To finish, you’ll get to taste the Garden Rhubarb Sorbet, an artful dessert with ruby chocolate, compressed strawberries, and a mountain pepper sable. This refreshing dish pairs wonderfully with the 2019 Frogmore Creek Iced Riesling for those who enjoy a sweet finish, or the slightly more complex 2020 Cullen Late Harvest Chenin Blanc from Margaret River.

As your day at Spicers Peak Lodge draws to a close, your helicopter awaits, whisking you back to Brisbane in comfort and style, completing this unforgettable culinary adventure high above the Scenic Rim.
