What to Expect on Your Sydney Harbour & Northern Beaches Coastal Adventure

Your adventure on the Sydney Harbour & Northern Beaches Coastal tour begins as soon as you arrive at the Sydney Airport Helicopter Terminal. You'll meet your Pilot to walk through your flight path and receive an exciting pre-flight photo opportunity with your helicopter, allowing you to capture the start of one of the best helicopter rides that Australia has to offer.

Once seated comfortably with your Bose noise-cancelling headsets, you'll hear live air traffic communications as the helicopter engines roar to life. Your pilot will receive takeoff clearance, and soon you’ll be flying high over Sydney Harbour, a stunning sight as Sydney’s renowned skyline and its sparkling waters come into full view below.

Heading over the CBD, you’ll take in Sydney’s iconic landmarks, including Martin Place, Hyde Park Barracks, and the naval ships docked at HMAS Kuttabul, an iconic piece of Sydney’s wartime history.

As you cross Sydney Harbour, you'll head on a scenic loop that takes you past the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Kirribilli House and Taronga Zoo. Then, your journey takes a turn as you veer northward toward Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where the magic of Sydney’s coastline truly unfolds.

Enjoy Manly Beach’s pristine shores, the rolling waves and expansive sands of Dee Why Beach, and the seclusion of Curl Curl Beach, each providing you with a distinct piece of Sydney’s coastal charm. Long Reef Beach comes into view next, with its headland showcasing sweeping vistas, rugged cliffs, and crystal-clear waters, all while you receive informative commentary so you know exaclty what you're looking at.

From Long Reef, your pilot flies you southward down the eastern beaches, skimming along Ben Buckler Point to reach the world-famous Bondi Beach, alive with surfers and visitors galore. The helicopter then takes you over the bustling Bondi Pavilion, the Bondi Icebergs rock pool, and the Bondi to Bronte coastal trail, where cliffside walkers enjoy views of Tamarama and Mackenzie’s Bay. Of course, being in a helicopter, you have an even better view!

As you continue to fly along the coastline, you’ll pass by Coogee, Bronte, and Maroubra Beaches, each providing you with birds-eye views of the oceanfront and luxurious homes dotted along the coast. Where are you located?

Rotor One is located at Sydney Airport which is 20 minutes from Sydney CBD by car. Your departure point will either be 462 Ross Smith Ave, Mascot or 472 Ross Smith Ave, Mascot depending on your flight. Please refer to your booking confirmation email for your departure location. Both locations have off-street parking available.

When should I arrive?

Please ensure you arrive 30 minutes before your booking begins for a relaxed experience.

Why do I need to provide my weight?

We use this to calculate the weight and balance of the helicopter prior to flight. Any guests weighing over 135kg (300lb) or a group of 2 or 3 guests weighing more than 240kg (530lb) combined may be required to upgrade to a larger helicopter for safety reasons. For shared flights, the maximum combined weight for a group of two guests is 180kg (400lb).

When does the free bus transfer depart from the city? (Select flights only)

Certain scenic flights include an optional bus transfer. If you've requested this with your booking, your bus will depart 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to your booked flight time from Park Royal Darling Harbour and Sir Stamford Circular Quay. For example, if your flight time is 10:30am, please ensure you're at your requested pickup point by 9:15am. After your flight, your bus will drop you back to Circular Quay.

What is the minimum age requirement for children?

Children aged 2 years and older can fly. Our pilots will give them special attention to ensure they have an amazing time. All children will occupy their own seat and pay the same seat price (we don't offer discounts for children as we make sure they have even more fun than the adults 😁)

Can bad weather prevent us from flying?

Yes, adverse weather conditions such as low cloud, fog, heavy rain or high winds may require your flight to be delayed or rescheduled. If this is the case, your pilot will contact you at least 2 hours prior to your booking time to reschedule your flight. If your flight cannot go ahead due to bad weather and you wish to cancel, we'll provide a full refund minus any credit card processing fees we've paid on your behalf.

Google says there might be bad weather on the day. Should I reschedule?

There's no need to contact us to reschedule based on a weather forecast as they're often inaccurate! We use live weather data on the day of your flight to determine if flights can be conducted safely.

Can I use my camera or phone during flight?

Yes, we encourage you to take as many photos and videos on the ground, and in the air, as possible.

What should I wear?

Please bring a pair of sunglasses and you're welcome to wear clothing appropriate to the weather. We do recommend a wind-breaker jacket on cooler or windy days to keep your warm.

Can I bring any luggage?

Handbags, small backpacks or duffel bags weighing less than 10kg and less than 60cm in length can be carried. Its essential all baggage is soft and compact as it must fit in a small baggage compartment under your seat. Larger luggage including rigid suitcases, airplane carry-on size rolling luggage or any items you do not wish to take on our flight can be safely stored in our guest lounge while you're flying.

Can I fly if I'm pregnant?

Yes, however we recommend flying prior to your third trimester.

Can I fly if I'm in a wheelchair?

Yes, our hangar is wheelchair-accessible and we warmly welcome passengers with special needs, as long as a carer accompanies them on their flight. Please note we unfortunately cannot assist with lifting disabled guests into our aircraft for OH&S reasons.

☔ Bad Weather & Cancellation Policy

What happens if there's bad weather on the day of my flight?

  • We really want you to enjoy your experience, so we only fly when the weather allows a safe and comfortable flight. If there's bad weather (low cloud, heavy rain, high winds) on the day, we may need to delay or reschedule your flight. We’ll work with you to choose a new date, or allow you to reschedule at your convenience.
  • If your flight cannot go ahead due to bad weather or an operational issue and you wish to cancel, we'll provide a full refund minus any credit card processing fees we've paid on your behalf.

    Can I reschedule or cancel my booking if my plans change?

    • You can reschedule or cancel up to 72 hours before departure. If you choose to cancel, we'll provide you with a full refund minus a 10% cancellation fee. No cancellation fee will apply if you'd like us to hold your booking as credit to fly in the future.

    Are Buy Now, Book Later and Gift Vouchers refundable?

    • Buy Now, Book Later and Gift Voucher purchases are non-refundable, valid for 3 years, and can be used towards any flight across all our locations.
