🚁 What to expect

What to Expect from the Australia Zoo Helicopter Day Tour

The Australia Zoo Helicopter Day Tour begins at Brisbane Airport. The flight takes you over Moreton Bay, with amazing views of turquoise water and estuaries along the Queensland coast. Keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles, or rays!.

Next, you’ll fly over Bribie Island, a long, thin strip of sand and bushland that separates the open ocean from the mainland. The wild coastline and inland waterways look completely different from the air, and you’ll get a new appreciation for this unique barrier island.

The highlight here is the flyover of the Glasshouse Mountains. These volcanic plugs rise sharply out of the earth like sentinels, and seeing them from above is a real experience. It’s an unforgettable sight and one of the most scenic parts of the tour.

Once you land at Australia Zoo, the ground experience begins. With VIP access included, you’ll skip the general entry lines and go straight into the action.

This isn’t your average zoo visit; your package includes premium access to exhibits, keeper presentations and close-up encounters that give you a more personal connection with the animals. Whether it’s hand feeding a kangaroo, seeing the crocodile show from prime seating or walking through immersive enclosures, your time at the zoo is designed to feel exclusive.

📍 About the destination

About the Destination

Australia Zoo is one of the most famous wildlife attractions in the country, with a big reason being that it’s the home of the late Steve Irwin, the original Crocodile Hunter. With 1,200 animals and so much more, this is more than your average zoo.

A big highlight is the Crocoseum, where daily wildlife shows feature saltwater crocodile feedings, bird-of-prey demonstrations and more. Guests can also walk through spacious habitats designed to mimic the animals' natural environments. From the open-range African Savannah, which has giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and meerkats, the Tiger Temple and the Southeast Asia habitat, the zoo has big and thoughtfully designed spaces for both guests and animals to enjoy.

You can also get up close and personal with native Aussie favourites like kangaroos, wombats, and koalas. In areas like Roo Heaven and the Koala Walk-Through, guests can interact directly with the animals. The animal encounter program allows you to meet cheetahs, feed red pandas, and even pat a giant tortoise. For kids, the Zoo Keeper for a Day program gives a fun behind-the-scenes look at caring for wildlife.

At the end of the day, the zoo is still driven by the Irwin family’s passion for wildlife conservation. Every visit supports global projects and the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, which rehabilitates thousands of animals every year. It's all about those breathtaking views and getting to see the skies from a whole new viewpoint while getting to discover some awesome wildlife that you may not know existed to begin with! The great part is that it's friendly for adults and kids alike.
