The Perfect 5 Day Perth Itinerary

The Perfect 5 Day Perth Itinerary

Perth is an amazing city to visit - full of life, culture, activities, and delicious food. If you have five days in Perth, you need to make the most of each day. There's so much to see and do that if you don't have an itinerary planned, you'll miss the best parts. So, let's go through what your 5 day Perth itinerary might look like - full of fine dining, cultural stops, and plenty of adventure.

Your five day Perth itinerary could look like this:

Day 1 in Perth City and Perth CBD

Day one in Perth has you starting at the Kings Park Botanic Garden, then moving on to the WA Museum Boola Bardip, and ends with an evening at Elizabeth Quay and London Court.

Start the Day at Kings Park Botanic Garden

Ultimate 5 Day Perth Itinerary

Start your 5 day Perth Itinerary with a morning walk at Kings Park, one of the largest inner city parks in Australia. From the lookouts, you can see the city skyline, Swan River, and the Perth CBD.

You can also follow the paths to the State War Memorial - which also happens to be close to the iconic Blue Boat house - making this area a favourite for exploring Perth.

Explore WA Museum Boola Bardip and the Art Gallery

You can then take the free Cat Bus or public transport to the Cultural Centre near Perth Station, where both the Art Gallery and the WA Museum Boola Bardip are located - both within walking distance of each other.

Here, you'll find exhibits showcasing the history of Western Australia, maritime exploration, and natural science.

Spend just a few hours here and then walk the nearby laneways that are full of street art, delicious food, and great coffee. This is a great cultural aspect to any Perth itinerary.

Evening at Elizabeth Quay and London Court

End the day by walking to Elizabeth Quay and cross the Elizabeth Quay Bridge to enjoy views of the Swan River and so much more.

You can explore the Hay Street Mall and the Murray Street Malls, which have a Tudor-style architecture like the London Cout, plus it also happens to be full of heritage buildings. This part of East Perth is great for having a relaxing evening.

Day 2: Fremantle and Beach Day on the West Coast

Day two of your Perth Itinerary starts with a morning spent at the Fremantle Markets, lunch at Cottesloe Beach, and ends with a sunset at Scarborough Beach.

Morning in Fremantle and the Fremantle Markets

5 Days in Perth

Use public transport to get down to Fremantle and the Fremantle Markets to scoop up some delicious breakfast and souvenirs.

While in the area, take a walk to Fremantle Prison, the WA Maritime Museum, and the WA Shipwrecks Museum - they're all within walking distance of each other.

These also happen to be in close proximity to the Esplanade Park and its lush lawns. It's all about spending the day exploring Perth before your beach adventure begins.

Lunch at Cottesloe Beach and City Beach

You can then spend the early afternoon at Cottesloe Beach, which is known for its white sand beaches and sparkling waters.

Go for a swim before heading north to City Beach. Both spots are perfect for having a relaxed beach day on the West Coast of Australia. Both are easy to reach with public transport or a hire car. The area is also home to plenty of cafes for a spot of lunch.

Sunset at Scarborough Beach

End the day with a visit to one of the most stunning beaches in all of Australia. At Scarborough Beach, you can watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean while enjoying dinner from a local eatery or food stall. There's plenty of bike paths and surf culture here, plus a laidback vibe.

Day 3: Rottnest Island Day Trip by Helicopter

Day 3 of your 5 day Perth Itinerary could involve a magnificent day trip to Rottnest Island.

Rottnest Island Helicopter Tour

5 Day Perth Trip Itinerary

Start the day right with Rotor One's Rottnest Island Helicopter Tour, the fastest and most scenic way to see as much of Rottnest Island as possible. Going by helicopter is the only way to do a Rottnest Island Day Trip.

It starts with a fun Perth helicopter ride that takes you over the Perth City skyline, Kings Park, Swan River, and the Indian Ocean. It's a beautifully scenic flight that touches down right at Rottnest Island Airport. Before you touch down, you'll see a variety of cliffs, white sand beaches, coral reefs, marine life, and more.

This kind of helicopter tour is ideal for those who want to experience a bit of luxury while also seeing the island in a way that few others can.

Explore Rottnest Island

Seeing as you're already on Rottnest Island, it's time to tour around. One of the best ways to get around the island is with a bike hire, which you can take around the whole island. The island itself is full of fun activities, such as swimming, snorkeling, and more.

You'll also get to meet the famous quokkas, which also happen to be super photogenic.

Spending a few hours relaxing on the island is a perfect addition to your Perth itinerary, and yes, this part is still included in the Rotor One tour. It involves several hours of ground time, followed by the flight back to Perth City. That said, there is also the option to take the ferry back from the island, for a change of pace.

Return to Perth City for an Evening on the Swan River

Whether you fly or ferry back, now is the time to have a relaxing evening on the Swan River.

You can go for a simple stroll in East Perth and around Elizabeth Quay, or you can go on a dinner cruise on the river - for an added touch of elegance.

Have some delicious food, see the city skyline after dark, and get ready for another day of adventure - it's just a stone's throw away.

Day 4: Day Trip North of Perth to the Pinnacles Desert and Lancelin Sand Dunes

Day four of your five day Perth itinerary involves a morning spent at the Lancelin Sand Dunes, followed by a visit to the Nambung National Park and Pinnacles Desert, and capped off with a quick trip to Caversham Wildlife Park.

Morning at the Lancelin Sand Dunes

Complete Guide to 5 Days in Perth

Start day four with a trip North of Perth to the Lancelin Sand Dunes. Here, you can enjoy the views of endless sand dunes with the Indian Ocean in the background, or try your hand at some sandboarding.

This is one of the most iconic road trip stops in the area, especially thanks to the combination of sand dunes and coast. When it comes to amazing day trips, this has to be part of it.

See the Nambung National Park and Pinnacles Desert

You can then continue to the Nambung National Park, where you'll find the Pinnacles Desert.

There is the option to walk between the thousands of limestone spires or there is a driving trail as well.

This national park is absolutely one of the most photogenic areas in all of Western Australia, and if you wish, you can always take a guided tour through it as well.

Return Via Swan Valley and Stop at the Caversham Wildlife Park

On your way back to Perth, stop in at Swan Valley for wine tasting, great brews, and delicious food at one of the area's many wineries and breweries - all great places for food and drinks.

If you'd rather keep the outdoor adventure going, stop at the Caversham Wildlife Park, where you can meet kangaroos, koalas, and more. It's a great end to day four, especially when day five will be the most adventure-filled of all.

Day 5: A Margaret River Tour and a Final Fancy Dinner in Perth

The last day of your Perth itinerary could involve a stunning helicopter tour to Margaret River and its many wineries, followed by a final gourmet dinner before your trip comes to an end.

The Margaret River Helicopter Winery Tour

5 Day Itinerary Perth

Your final day in Perth is all about the Rotor One Margaret River Helicopter Winery Tour. This helicopter trip turns what would normally be a way-too-long road trip into a thrilling aerial adventure over the West Coast of Australia.

This tour involves a scenic helicopter flight to the Margaret River region, with stops at three renowned wineries. Each winery features its own unique varietals and combinations of food and wine. Enjoy premium wine tastings at each location, along with a gourmet three-course meal to tie it all together.

You'll then take a return flight back to Perth City in the afternoon, with even more great aerial views of the skyline and all of Perth's iconic landmarks.

End the Day with Fine Dining on the Swan River

End your final day in Perth with some fine dining at one of Perth's best riverside restaurants.

Two of the most popular options on this front include Coogee Common or the Wildflower at OOMO The Treasury. They both highlight seasonal food and local ingredients from Western Australia - and both have refined service and beautiful views.

Have some amazing food that pairs well with high-end wines, and end your last day in Perth with a touch of elegance. This brings your 5 day Perth itinerary to an end!
