Wine Tasting Experiences at Peterson House – The Cellar Door

Peterson House is well known for its various wine tasting experiences, and its cellar door boasts an extensive selection of over 30 different sparkling wines that you can taste. The following wine tasting experiences are perfect as Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day presents, birthdays, and more. Keep in mind that although this location is best regarded for its sparkling wine, it also has still red and white wine options available.

Basic Wine Tasting

You can choose five sparkling wines from the extensive wine list for just $15 per person. You can book a wine tasting for up to seven people. The selection includes a variety of sparkling wines, including white sparkling wine, available for tasting.

Group Wine Tasting

If you're looking for a group wine tasting for up to 16 people, this is available for $30 per person. This comes with a set tasting list of sparkling wines, as well as a gift that consists of a piccolo, piccolo sipper, a sparkly pen, and a cupcake that matches perfectly with a sweet wine.

There is also a lunch menu available, which is served from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This is a modern Australian menu headed by chef Chad Pridue, who uses his many years of experience to create a menu that uses as much fresh seasonal produce as possible. All honey, seafood, greens, and herbs come straight from local suppliers. With a mix of delectable starters, mains, and sharing platters, Restaurant Cuvee features a wide variety of dishes that pair perfectly with all of its sparkling wines and so much more.

What's also interesting about Peterson House is that there are also group breakfast and group lunch options available. These are set menus, with entrees, mains, desserts, and sides, with each category having three or four options to choose from.

Weddings and Events at Peterson House

Peterson House also makes for the perfect location to host an event, as it features the perfect backdrop for any social gathering. As one of the first Hunter Valley wineries, Peterson House is strategically located, making it an appealing gateway to the wider region's wine experiences. In fact, as far as events go, Peterson House was awarded the Winner of the 2019 Savour NSW Restaurant and Catering.

There are three different venues to host events in. First, there is the main building, a beautiful sandstone structure that houses the restaurant and the cellar door. In the evening, this is available for private dinners and cocktail parties. The removable sides of the building allow fresh air to get inside, while the sides can also close to offer great climate control.

There is then another building, the marquee, which has recently been extended and renovated with a glass wall and new flooring, as well as the sandstone path that connects to the main building. This also features climate control, as well as sides that can open, weather permitting. It makes for a great indoor or outdoor event location.

Perhaps the most impressive structure on the property of all is the Chapel. The Peterson house Chapel was completed in 2019, and it provides guests with a great option for an off site dinner, along with an outdoor bar. Thanks to these three main buildings, Peterson house makes for a great location for weddings, funerals, private events, corporate events, and much more. The Chapel features seating for over 200 guests, allowing for a large yet intimate ceremony.

How to Get to Peterson House in the Hunter Valley Vineyard Region

Peterson House is located about 167 kilometres or two hours north of Sydney along the M1, strategically situated along the renowned wine country drive. This route allows for easy access to the vineyard tours in the Hunter Valley, making it a popular choice for visitors exploring the area's notable wineries.

However, if you happen to live in Sydney, the two-hour drive might be a bit much for you, especially if you want to get there in time for breakfast, not to mention that there’s a two-hour drive back as well. However, there are also tour buses and chartered tours available that go to Hunter Valley and Peterson House.

You can also choose to join the Premium Club, which is ideal for those who like drier sparkling wines. Here, you'll get 3 deliveries of four bottles in March, June, and October.
