What to expect on your Surprise Helicopter Proposal Flight over Sydney?
You and your partner will arrive at our hangar, the anticipation building for what she believes is a helicopter ride you won through our online giveaway. You'll be greeted by our staff and escorted to our customer lounge, where you'll unwind with a glass of champagne while we prepare the helicopter for your special moment.
Your Pilot will then provide a short safety briefing, and you'll be strapped in for take-off on your unforgettable flight over Sydney. As your helicopter is starting up, you'll hear the radio chatter from Sydney's Air Traffic Control in your Bose noise-canceling headsets as they manage the arrival of international passenger jets across Sydney's busy runways. Your pilot is a key player in the surprise, maintaining the secrecy throughout the tour.
Once the blades are spinning and your helicopter is ready for take-off, your Pilot will contact Air Traffic Control to request a taxi and take-off clearance for your scenic flight around Sydney Harbour. You'll be listening for the magic words "Cleared Harbour Bridge 5 Outbound," and before you know it, your helicopter will be lifting off towards Sydney's CBD.
From the moment you're airborne, the city skyline and Sydney's spectacular harbour will come into view. You'll fly past Sydney CBD with views of Martin Place and the bustling business district before flying over the historic Port of Botany Bay and navy warships at Sydney's naval base.
Your helicopter will fly an exciting orbit over Sydney Harbour at 1,000ft (330m) for you capture photos of some of Sydney's most spectacular landmarks including Taronga Zoo, Kirribilli House (The Prime Minister's Residence), Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, and Sydney Opera House.
Next, you'll head east over the beautiful Rose Bay and Watsons Bay on your way to Sydney Heads, where you'll be just moments away from the perfect moment to pop the question. As your helicopter descends to 500ft (150m) and heads towards Bondi Beach, your Pilot will make a secret radio call to let you know the coast is clear for you to pop the question... and from here, we leave the rest up to you 💍♥️

Where are you located?
Rotor One is located at Sydney Airport which is 20 minutes from Sydney CBD by car. Your departure point will either be 462 Ross Smith Ave, Mascot or 472 Ross Smith Ave, Mascot depending on your flight. Please refer to your booking confirmation email for your departure location. Both locations have off-street parking available.
When should I arrive?
Please ensure you arrive 30 minutes before your booking begins for a relaxed experience.
When does the free bus transfer depart from the city? (Select flights only)
Certain scenic flights include an optional bus transfer. If you've requested this with your booking, your bus will depart 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to your booked flight time from Park Royal Darling Harbour and Sir Stamford Circular Quay. For example, if your flight time is 10:30am, please ensure you're at your requested pickup point by 9:15am. After your flight, your bus will drop you back to Circular Quay.
Why do I need to provide my weight?
We use this to calculate the weight and balance of the helicopter prior to flight. Please contact us in the event any single guest weights over 130kg or, for a shared flight, if any two guests weigh more than 180kg combined.
What is the minimum age requirement for children?
Children aged 2 years and older can fly. Our pilots will give them special attention to ensure they have an amazing time. All children will occupy their own seat and pay the same seat price (we don't offer discounts for children as we make sure they have even more fun than the adults 😁)
Can bad weather prevent us from flying?
Yes, adverse weather conditions such as low cloud, fog, heavy rain or high winds may require your flight to be delayed or rescheduled. If this is the case, your pilot will contact you at least 2 hours prior to your booking time to reschedule your flight. If your flight cannot go ahead due to bad weather and you wish to cancel, we'll provide a full refund minus any credit card processing fees we've paid on your behalf.
Google says there might be bad weather on the day. Should I reschedule?
There's no need to contact us to reschedule based on a weather forecast as they're often inaccurate! We use live weather data on the day of your flight to determine if flights can be conducted safely.
Can I use my camera or phone during flight?
Yes, we encourage you to take as many photos and videos on the ground, and in the air, as possible.
What should I wear?
Please bring a pair of sunglasses and you're welcome to wear clothing appropriate to the weather. We do recommend a wind-breaker jacket on cooler or windy days to keep your warm.
Can I bring any luggage?
Handbags, small backpacks or duffel bags weighing less than 10kg and less than 60cm in length can be carried. Its essential all baggage is soft and compact as it must fit in a small baggage compartment under your seat. We're not able to carry any rigid suitcases or airplane carry-on size rolling luggage.
Can I fly if I'm pregnant?
Yes, however we recommend flying prior to your third trimester.
Can I fly if I'm in a wheelchair?
Yes, our hangar is wheelchair-accessible and we warmly welcome passengers with special needs, as long as a carer accompanies them on their flight. Please note we unfortunately cannot assist with lifting disabled guests into our aircraft for OH&S reasons.

What happens if there's bad weather on the day of my flight?
- We really want you to enjoy your experience, so we only fly when the weather allows a safe and comfortable flight. If there's bad weather (low cloud, heavy rain, high winds) on the day, we may need to delay or reschedule your flight. We’ll work with you to choose a new date, or allow you to reschedule at your convenience.
- If your flight cannot go ahead due to bad weather and you choose not to reschedule, we'll provide a full refund minus any credit card processing fees we've paid on your behalf.
Can I reschedule or cancel my booking if my plans change?
- You can reschedule or cancel up to 72 hours before departure. If you choose to cancel, we'll provide you with a full refund minus a 10% cancellation fee.
Are Gift Vouchers refundable?
- Gift voucher purchases are non-refundable, valid for 3 years, and can be used towards any flight across all our locations.
